We have 2 jazz bands at Anderson, which are selected through audition by ability and experience - Jazz One and Anderson After Hours begin rehearsing at the conclusion of marching season (early November). A variety of Jazz styles are learned: Funk, samba, swing, rock, & reggae to name a few. Both groups utilize traditional big band instrumentation: Saxophones, Trumpets, Trombones, and Rhythm Section (Bass Guitar, Piano, and Drumset). Students should only audition if they are able to make EVERY rehearsal

Jazz Band Audition Info Please download the following file: Chord Changes for Improv (right click and 'save ... as...') This can be used to practice the chord changes required for the audition. Remember that you only have to audition if you want to be in Jazz I. There will also be required audition music to be prepared for the audition. Drumset will have 3 excerpts/styles to be performed for the audition. More to come by end of week. |
