Welcome Band Parents
If this is your first year as a band parent, you are in for some fun! If you are a returning band parent, you already know of the fun and excitement of being a Pride of AHS Marching Band Booster.
What do Band Boosters do to energize the band?
In support of our hard working band members, staff, and pit crew the boosters provide a band dinner prior to each home football game. These take place in the circle, or in case of rain in the gym lobby, beginning at 5:30. After eating, the band gets dressed and has their pre-game warm up, and then goes directly to the pre-game show.
Every Thursday after evening practice, the band is provided with a snack when leaving the field at 8:00.
Each home and away football game halftime, and all competitions, the band is provided with cold water and snacks. At home football games, the visiting band is provided with snacks and waters also.
Lunches are provided on days of special events (e.g., parades) and during rookie camp.
A snack and drink is provided every day of pre-band camp.
What are all band families asked to contribute?
Each band family to contribute 1 case of bottled water, and 24 nutritional individually packaged snacks (granola bars, popcorn, etc.—please no orange peanut butter crackers…nobody ever eats them). Please drop off these items by the tennis courts in the back of AHS August 14th (Look for a Black SUV with a Sign on it). OR they can be brought to the circle area during the band dinner before any home game OR drop off on our front porch anytime at (971 Merritt Grove Lane).
Each band family to provide a side dish, or dessert, drinks etc. for 2 meals or provide 2 Thursday night snacks during the marching season. The sign up sheets are brought to every band booster meeting, the items needed are also sent out by the band booster secretary each week in the weekly email newsletter.
Dinner instructions: The meal items are to be brought to the circle area at 5:00, which is 30 minutes before the meal is to be served. Bring the food at ready to serve temperature, and bring cold drinks. Bring a serving utensil if necessary and put your name on each item with masking tape. If you can’t pick your items up after the meal, you can pick up at 971 Merritt Grove Lane.
Thursday night instructions: Arrive at 7:45 at the back of the school, and pass out the snacks when the band comes off of the practice field. You can park right by the back door, and there is usually a table inside the door you can use to put the food on. (If it is raining serve them in the band hallway).
Our kids love homemade snacks our band members must have parents who are excellent cooks, because they always leave the packaged snacks uneaten. If you would ever like to bake something for the band, homemade desserts are much appreciated at meals, and also at halftime instead of their usually assortment of packaged snacks. Please give me a call if you have a homemade donation for halftime.
Thank you so much for all your support.
